Purpose of Position
Northern Kentucky University’s Electronic Media & Broadcasting program seeks candidates for a tenure-track faculty position beginning in August 2022. We seek a colleague who can successfully teach foundational and advanced courses in media production, aesthetics, and storytelling, with an emphasis on audio recording and engineering, sound design, professional television studio and control room technology, and/or professional experience in TV studio production.

Primary Responsibilities
In addition to teaching, successful candidates are expected to maintain an active research and/or creative program, particularly as it relates to their area of expertise in the media field, and participate in service to the University, Community, and Industry. As such, each candidate should be able to demonstrate teaching effectiveness, scholarship, and service. Electronic Media & Broadcasting is an award-winning undergraduate program within the College of Informatics that offers a Bachelor of Arts degree and works with close to 300 students across their major and minor programs.

The university is located only 10 minutes south of Cincinnati, providing a close proximity to numerous Fortune 500 companies, professional sports teams, top caliber arts organizations, and a growing feature film industry. Students and faculty are connected to a region that provides a variety of internships, experiential media projects, and collaborative opportunities.

In addition to this deep involvement locally, the Electronic Media & Broadcasting program is home to a robust study abroad program, allowing students and faculty to explore the world through media. Projects and partnerships reach from downtown Cincinnati to Cape Town, South Africa. Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience. Minimum Qualifications:

1. Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in media production, digital media, informatics, communication/mass communication or other field directly related to media creation.
2. A strong portfolio in peer-reviewed academic and/or creative work that demonstrates expertise in applying theory to practice in media is required.
3. Ability to teach current courses in our undergraduate catalog .
4. A commitment to and/or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. MFA or Ph.D. in related media fields.
2. Teaching and/or professional experience audio recording and engineering, sound design, professional television studio and control room technology, and/or professional experience in TV studio production.
3. Experience in building and facilitating study abroad courses.
