The Data Analyst will support evaluation efforts at the VCU Health Hub at 25th and will take ownership of projects from conception to dissemination with rigor and robust scientific principles. This role will report to the Director of the VCU Health Hub at 25th. The ability to work remotely and in our physical office in East End/Church Hill community within Richmond, Virginia is negotiable.

The Evaluation Coordinator under the Director’s guidance will collaborate with several multidisciplinary teams and community-based organizations and support community-engaged data collection. The research will focus on analysis of center-level data. The Evaluation Coordinator will also be responsible for leading a variety of data analysis projects, as well as building reports/dashboards of the data collected from multiple data sources.

  • RESEARCH PROJECT MANAGEMENT : manage data requests from the Director and the Health Hub at 25th Evaluation Sub-Committee; develop and implement an ongoing and iterative evaluation strategy by administering quantitative measures and qualitative data collection, analyzing and synthesizing evaluation data, and improving subsequent tools and data collection processes; data collection method development; incorporate feedback from the Director and members of the evaluation sub-committee into Center processes; being able to respond to the implementation of the tool, critically evaluate how a participant responds to tools and its level of appropriateness; establish automated data analytic pipelines for the analysis of regularly-reported results to university administrators
  • DATA ANALYSIS : Clean data sets; perform appropriate statistical analyses; interpret, visualize, and disseminate results
  • COLLABORATION : In partnership with the Director, collaborate with internal and external partners in development and dissemination of research projects in the form of reports and briefs
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • A degree in statistics, public health, computer science, decision science, or a related field
  • Experience building reports and dashboards in Tableau
  • Experience/desire to build dashboards/reports
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of compiling and developing technical documentation of coding projects implemented
  • Experience in RedCap
  • Strong background in R or Python, and working with APIs
  • Experience with developing and administering data collection instruments
  • Must be self-motivated and capable of delivering high quality work with general supervision
  • Strong desire to work in a community-engaged translational research setting
  • Ability to critically think, asking the right questions of the data
  • Conceptual “big picture” thinker who is both detail-oriented and able to understand where their work fits into the larger project
  • Strong, demonstrable organizational skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Must be trustworthy, hard-working, positive, a team-player, and dedicated to the working mission/objectives of the VCU Health Hub at 25th
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years in analytics or data related fields
  • Strong programming background
  • Experience with Survey data (text data)
  • Experiential learning through lived experiences and/or professional service that inform worldviews and/or perspectives about minority group status, to include race, age, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, and disability
