This position will require nights and weekend work often; however, the most common schedule will be Monday – Friday 8 AM – 4:30 PM.
Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Residence Life & Case Manager is a full-time, twelve month position that will be charged with addressing the needs of students who have problems in areas such as academics, health, psychological, economic, discipline, family relationships and social adjustments through a variety of interventions, referrals and follow up services. Responsibilities will include needs assessment, case management, and collaboration and consultation with academic deans, health care providers, parents, and colleagues within Student Affairs.

Key Responsibilities:

*Review morning report and compare with Care referrals to ensure proper entry of data
*Formulate intervention plans in order to minimize and/or resolve problems
*Contact and collaborate with other University departments to expedite resolution of problems
*Conduct individual and group student meetings as necessary
*Provide referrals to support services within the University as well as community agencies
*Follow up on prior cases to insure compliance with recommendations
*Perform psycho-social needs assessments
*Maintain factual case records and preparing necessary statistical reports
*Maintain a directory of community resources available to students
*Facilitate communication between parents and the University to address/resolve student issues
*Interpret University policy regarding students and making recommendations when policy changes are needed
*Assist students with social services needs including, but not limited to, referral to community resources, facilitating access to medical care, including coordination of hospitalizations, discharge planning, and crisis intervention
*In coordination with the Office of Student Support, provide support and guidance to University personnel in matters pertaining to case management maintenance and access to records, when appropriate

This position will work closely with the university case management team under the direction of the Director of Student Support. Serves as the point person for Residence Life in relationship to all CARE referrals. This includes collaborative triaging of students in very complex situations, such as: mental health issues, crisis or emergency situations, suicide attempts, overdoses, physical/sexual assaults, criminal activities, or escalating conflicts; works with Student Support to provide extensive training to Residence Life professional and paraprofessional personnel on the aforementioned topics and prepares staff to identify when to: “ask for help.” Acts as the departmental representative to the Care Coordination and Behavioral Intervention and Response Teams. Represents the department with internal and external university entities. Demonstrated experience in working with populations of diverse backgrounds, for example but not limited to: LGBTQI, Black/African-American, Latino/Latina, international students, and students from varying socioeconomic statuses.

In addition to the duties above, the Assistant Director serves as an integral part of the Department of Residence Life. At the direction of the Director of Residence Life, the position performs functions as necessary including, but not limited, to: staff supervision, living learning program development, facility and administrative management, and participation in department initiatives.

This position will report to the Office of Student Support for two months during the summer. Minimum Qualifications
Earned master’s degree in: psychology, social work, counseling, public health, or student affairs.

Four years post master’s degree work in higher education in the areas of: student affairs and/or residence life.

Demonstrated experience in working with populations of diverse backgrounds, for example but not limited to: Black/African-American, Latino/Latina, LGBTQI+, international students, and students from varying socioeconomic statuses.

Successful candidate must perform well in an interview and deliver a formal presentation. Preferred Qualifications
More than four years of experience supervising graduate students in residence life. Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment regarding student issues as well as parental and faculty concerns.
