Position Description

NYU Steinhardt’s Program in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in the Department of Administration, Leadership, and Technology invites nominations and applications for a Clinical Professor at either the Clinical Assistant Professor or the Clinical Associate Professor rank. This is a non-tenure-track renewable appointment that begins September 1, 2022. Our academic programs focus on preparing leaders who are capable of creating equitable educational policies and institutionalizing practices that enhance opportunities for those children and families living, predominantly, in urban schools and communities. Through our programs, students acquire a Masters in Educational Leadership, Politics and Advocacy, and a PhD or EdD in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Our Masters and EdD programs prepare leaders for schools, school systems, community-based organizations and non-profit organizations. Our PhD program prepares researchers, policy makers, and professors of educational leadership and policy studies.  As a program long dedicated to enhancing equity, diversity, and opportunity in education, we especially encourage candidates from historically underrepresented groups to apply.

Responsibilities include: Teaching program courses; leading program & course development processes, which includes launching new or revising courses/programs; leading on-going program assessment and improvement processes; providing academic advisement for undergraduate and graduate students; participating in faculty meetings and serving on committees appropriate to a university faculty member.

The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in educational leadership or a discipline relevant to the study of educational leadership, politics/policy and advocacy; Minimum of 10 years of experience in both K-12 and higher education policy environments preferred, including leadership positions in both K-12 and higher education systems;  program development experience both at the K-12 and higher education levels is also a plus; experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; a deep knowledge of and relationships with New York City education and non-profit organizations serving children and youth is also desired, but not required.

NYU's dynamic Global Network University includes NYU Abu Dhabi, NYU Shanghai, and international programs and academic centers around the world. NYU Steinhardt faculty may be afforded the opportunity for variable term work at these global study and research sites.

NYU is committed to building a culturally diverse educational environment and strongly encourages applications from historically underrepresented groups.
