Ottawa University (est. 1865), one of the oldest private liberal arts universities in the United States, seeks candidates and/or nominations for a full-time Engineering position with assignment in the University’s School of Arts & Sciences.  This position will be assigned the appropriate faculty rank based on teaching experience and academic credentials. The faculty member will be expected to teach in our core Engineering curricula, while also participating in the liberal arts curriculum and accreditation processes. Primary responsibilities include teaching, advising, academic program guidance, and providing faculty leadership.

 

Ottawa University is a multi-campus system and serves approximately 4000 students through its campuses in Kansas (main campus), Arizona, Wisconsin, and Online. Ottawa University is a regionally accredited, church-related, private university that strives to integrate faith, learning, and life in the academic experiences of students.

 

Qualifications for the full-time tenure track, 9-month teaching faculty position include 3-5 years of related experience, a doctorate degree in Engineering (ABD is accepted). The successful candidate will develop and teach a broad range of courses and laboratories at the undergraduate level in the Engineering program.  Additional responsibilities will include teaching physics and math courses, as appropriate with academic background and experience; program development and assessment; student advising; and assisting with student recruitment.  Ideal candidates will have industrial work experience and knowledge, as well as experience with ABET assessment.  Educational background in Electrical Engineering is preferred but Physics, Mechanical, and Computer Engineering will be considered. Rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience and academic preparation. The faculty member must display an enthusiasm for teaching from a liberal arts perspective and have an interest in working with undergraduate-level (traditional and adult) learners, as well as have a passion for students. The start date of January 2022 or August 2022 will be determined by the selected candidate's availability.
