Position Summary:

The Associate Registrar supervises and performs the day-to-day operation of student records management at a Connecticut Community College. The College attracts a diverse and complex student body that includes those pursuing two-year liberal arts degrees as well as those working for specialized occupational and career certifications. The student records function is made more complex because of the College’s consideration of qualified veterans’ and experiential credits and credentials. The College’s student records are supported by a complex computer-based student information system which is overseen by the centralized information technology organization, but which is operated and adapted locally by the College’s student records staff.

Incumbents must possess the proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business or an appropriately related field with one (1) or more years of related experience; or a combination of education, training, and experience, which would lead to the competencies, required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:

  • Knowledge of student records practices and methods accepted by the higher education field.
  • Experience using student information systems for retrieval and reporting (e.g., Banner, Simplicity).
  • One (1) year of prior experience working with graduation audit software (Degree Works, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a Community College Setting.
  • An advanced degree in higher education or a related field
  • Two (2) years of direct customer service experience
  • Two (2) years of direct supervision of professional staff
  • Bilingual (Spanish, etc.)
Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Registrar or other administrator, the Associate Registrar is responsible for contributing to the accuracy, reliability, timeliness, retrieval, reporting, and security of information about the academic achievement of the College’s students through effective performance in these essential functional areas:

  • Student registration.
  • Comprehensive student records.
  • Reporting of student information.
  • Coordination of graduation audits and degree/certificate conferrals
  • Update degree requirements & coding to audit software; provides training to users (students, faculty, advisors, etc.) on degree audit software.
  • Handles office responsibilities related to the annual commencement ceremony
  • Supervision of staff.


In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Starting Salary:

$57,604 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. Salary Range for this level is $57,604-$104,581.
