Job Summary

The Program Manager for the Drexel NIH funded FIRST program (Catalyzing Systemic Change at Drexel University to Support Diverse Faculty in Health Disparities Research) will oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Drexel FIRST Program, a program designed to catalyze faculty development at Drexel University with a special focus on recruiting, retaining and promoting the career advancement of racially/ethnically diverse faculty whose work focuses on health disparities research from population health to intervention science. This will include managing, coordinating and implementing the activities of each the three cores of the Drexel FIRST Program (administrative, faculty development and evaluation cores), managing and coordinating interactions between the cores and various Drexel units as well as FIRST cohorts at other universities and the NIH FIRST Coordinating Center, overseeing and staffing various committee meetings, developing annual reports for the university and progress reports for the funder, monitoring spending in collaboration with financial support staff, overseeing the creation and update of a website and newsletter, managing all communications, and assisting with faculty recruitment and hiring efforts and FIRST sponsored events such as seminars. In addition, and over time, the program manager may take on additional responsibilities related to other strategic initiatives at DSPH. The project manager will report to Dr. Diez Roux but will work closely with both project PIs Drs. Gitlin and Diez Roux. This position will be assisted by an administrative coordinator.

Essential Functions
  • Manage, coordinate and implement the activities of the administrative, faculty development and evaluation cores of Drexel FIRST
  • Manage and coordinate interactions between the cores and various Drexel units as well as FIRST cohorts at other universities and the FIRST coordinating center
  • Oversee, set agendas for and staff various committee meetings including internal and external advisory boards
  • Develop reports and summaries for the PIs, the university and the funder
  • Oversee the creation and update of the Drexel FIRST website and Drexel FIRST newsletter and managing all communications
  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of faculty recruitment and hiring efforts
  • Coordinate Drexel FIRST sponsored events such as seminars, speakers etc
  • Other duties as assigned related to strategic initiatives around health equity
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Very detail oriented, extremely organized, and comfortable with multitasking.
  • Possess excellent oral, written, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Team oriented and experienced working with diverse groups.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with faculty, professional staff, administrators.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, data table displays, conducting environmental scans.
