Position Overview:
  • Performs accounting operations such as: verifying and correcting accounting transactions for completeness and accuracy, and processing billing and adjustments for student accounts.
  • Performs work under general supervision. Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Gathers and disseminates a wide variety of information about policies and procedures.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Handles confidential matters with discretion.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of university Pcard guidelines. Answer questions about purchases and offer guidance to cardholders as needed.
  • Assist departmental purchasing cardholders by coding purchases in the online transaction system.
  • Maintain files for past transactions for all departmental pcard holders.
  • Assists with the maintenance, verification, and accuracy of all billing aspects of the StarRez and Banner systems as they relate to Housing & Dining.
  • Reviews daily billing and account for accuracy and adjusts accounts as necessary.
  • Assists in processing meal plan contracts and bills accordingly.
  • Assists with reconciling and maintaining vendor commission payments to sales commissions.
  • Processes housing and dining change requests for students and save appropriate documentation in the university file database.
  • Follows policies and procedures to guide students and parents to resolve contract issues.
  • Process routine dining reports and maintain files for dining data reference and billing.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of housing and dining financial procedures and contract terms.
  • Maintain system to issue and track Events Management meal cards for university events and conference groups.
  • Process routine reporting to assist with the usage and billing of meal cards.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required:

Performs administrative or manual tasks. Typically requires general education or vocational training and 3+ years’ relevant experience in chosen field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications Preferred:
  • Ability to manage resources.
  • Records maintenance skills.
  • Ability to understand and review purchases, encumbrances, and vendor invoices.
  • Must possess excellent communications, both verbally and in writing, public relations, and organizational skills.
  • Computer literate with word processing and spreadsheet experience and computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications including Microsoft Word and Excel, databases, and billing and management software.
  • Account balancing and reconciling skills.
  • Some knowledge of budgeting cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of office procedures and practices.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with students, parents, and others.
  • Regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability, and promptness.
