Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Maintenance Specialist III performs a va riety of maintenance, repair s, installations, and restoration functions on facilities, equipment and systems at an LSC campus/location (including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, painting, preventive maintenance, etc.) . May help mentor, counsel and assist lower-level maintenance employees within the department. Helps ensure worker s adhere to all safety standards and schedules. Some positions may focus on one particular area, such as locksmith functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to understand and follow directions given orally and in writing, and must be able to read and understand the basics of blue prints
- Must be well organized and possess good interpersonal communication skills
- Capable of safely operating powered equipment, such as: saws, drills, and sanders, brush hog, tractor; and be able to determine which equipment to use for a particular purpose
- Ability to communicate via radio and telephone
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) and labor intensive work associated with facilities maintenance
- The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters and record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours as needed
- The work involves some exposure to outdoor elements and exposure to physical hazards in working with standard equipment related to maintenance / repair and restoration. This exposure requires safety precautions due to working around moving parts, carts, machines, tools. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as masks, boots, goggles, gloves, etc.
- High School D iploma or GED and at least 2 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Hiring salary range is $30,000 to $34,500 annually.
Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
