YouthBuild Instructor - Grant Funded (PT)

Salary: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour DOE

This is a grant-funded position. Grant-funded positions expire either at the end of the stated term or whenever funding for the position ceases.

The part-time YouthBuild Instructor will develop individuals’ skills and competencies by delivering a curriculum in preparation of taking and passing the High School Equivalency. The intended learning outcomes are that students show an increase in content knowledge by increasing TABE scores and eventually pass all five required areas of High School Equivalency (TASC). The instructor would work with the grant-funded Mohawk Valley YouthBuild program to assist students in obtaining academic outcomes. This project is designed to provide opportunity youth of diverse backgrounds with rigorous academic instruction, occupational skills training and viable pathways to post-secondary education and careers.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Delivers curriculum using different learning modalities ensuring learners are managed, motivated, coached and supported to achieve the intended learning outcomes;
  • Fosters and maintains a safe, inclusive and effective learning environment to enable learners’ engagement and participation;
  • Conducts learner assessments (TABE), analyze and make plans to adjust for greater outcomes;
  • Manages diverse and inclusive classroom, both in-person and on-line;
  • Skilled in using questioning, listening and non-verbal communication techniques to give, elicit and receive feedback and to overcome communication barriers;
  • Works with the YouthBuild team to meet objectives of the YouthBuild grant (i.e. working with vocational staff to reinforce topics);
  • Participates in weekly team meetings to support student needs;
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of EOC.
Qualifications:


Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Education or related field
  • Teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
