Job Description:

The Human Resources Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of benefits and payroll.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date files, records, and documentation while also maintaining their integrity and confidentiality.
  • Serves as primary telephone contact and email responder for benefits accounts.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from employees relative to standard policies, benefits and payroll processes, etc.; utilizes appropriate other HR staff as needed.
  • Performs periodic audits of benefit records to ensure internal and external data is reflective of employees' selections.
  • Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
  • Conducts or assists with new hire benefit orientation and manages election data in HRIS.
  • Performs intake, reporting, and tracking of work injury claims.
  • Administers COBRA and retiree billing process.
  • Performs initial verification and ongoing dependent eligibility audits.
  • Assist with payroll functions including time entry, validations, and vacation/sick audits.
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits annual enrollment, W2 and ACA processing.
  • Perform other duties as necessary or as assigned within the human resources department.



Requirements:

REQUIRED SKILL AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations and data with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn human resource information system (HRIS) and similar computer applications.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing tasks on a computer.


EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of a high school degree or equivalent is required; Associate's degree in related field is preferred.
  • Prior related office experience preferred.
