Job Summary:

This is a multifunctional administrative support position for the Russell Labs Administrative Service Center. The desire to work in a fast-paced, friendly, and customer-oriented atmosphere is paramount. The ability to represent the College and the Russell Labs Departments to the general public in a polite, professional and informative manner is crucial.

The Administrative Assistant is a member of the Russell Labs Administrative Service Center, which supports the academic departments of Entomology, Forest and Wildlife Ecology, and Plant Pathology in their research, instructional and outreach missions. Key duties include 1) serving as the main office manager, coordinating office logistics and supervising student help as needed, 2) assisting the financial services team with grant management activities and 3) working with the Student Services Coordinator to carry out academic program tasks.

This position reports to the Department Administrator under general supervision and interacts with a diverse group of administrative staff and departmental personnel.

Education:

Preferred

Qualifications:

- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people, with an emphasis on customer service required
- Ability to work independently and set own priorities, as well as work collaboratively within a team environment required
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Experience with, or ability to learn, University policies and procedures required
- Proficiency with, or ability to learn, Microsoft Office, Google Suite and Adobe software required
- Experience with, or ability to learn, UW-Madison administrative systems required
- Experience with financial/accounting work in higher education preferred
- Experience with curriculum management in higher education preferred
- Experience supervising student workers preferred

Additional Information:

The position may be benefits eligible depending on FTE.
