SUMMARY :
The Department of Music at Carthage College seeks an Assistant/Associate Professor of Music (full-time, tenure track) beginning in August 2022. This individual will serve as Director of Choral Activities and direct the Carthage Choir, the flagship choral ensemble of the College.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
Teaching, advising, and service responsibilities assigned based on candidate expertise, interests, and departmental needs. Actively recruit prospective students, organize, and lead regional, national, and international tours of the Carthage Choir. In addition, the candidate will oversee all aspects of the choral program including the annual Lakeside Choral Festival. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators on curriculum development and outreach events. Develop and maintain a regional and national reputation as a choral conductor and teacher.
The successful applicant will be an experienced conductor with demonstrated success at the professional, post-secondary, and/or high school level.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE :
- Commitment to teaching undergraduate students with pedagogical skills and experiences that match departmental needs.
- Experience working with, teaching, and/or mentoring diverse populations.
- Ability to contribute to fostering diversity of the campus, curriculum, and discipline.
- Doctoral degree in music (ABD considered).
- Success in teaching K-12 music (preferred).
