Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology -  Lyon College invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Psychology position in the areas of Cognition and/or Biopsychology. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or, if ABD, have the degree in hand by the start of Fall 2022 and should have a record of scholarly activity and demonstrate how that activity can include the activity of high-quality undergraduate students. Preference will be given to applicants who can effectively teach Sensation & Perception, Introduction to Cognition, and Biopsychology. There are also opportunities to teach sections of Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, and Research Methods.  Evidence of quality teaching will be part of the successful candidate’s application materials. Additional responsibilities may include academic advising and service on college committees. Experience at a small, residential liberal arts college as a student or as a faculty member is desirable. Absent that experience, an understanding of the difference between a small college and a university and the desire to be on the faculty of a small college are important. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.  

Lyon College is a private, selective liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). It is located in Batesville, Arkansas, a safe and historic town of 10,000 that serves as commercial, medical, social, and governmental hub for an eight-county area. The College currently enrolls almost 600 undergraduate students from 25 states and 11 foreign countries. Entering freshmen have an average high school GPA of 3.5 and an average ACT composite of 24.
