Job Summary

The College of Sciences and Mathematics ( COSAM ) Office of Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity’s ( OIED ) mission is to help cultivate a diverse STEM workforce by attracting, developing, and retaining the best and brightest individuals from all backgrounds. The OIED is seeking to hire a Minority Program Coordinator to help support this mission. The Minority Program Coordinator will be committed to advancing student’s academic and career success by working within COSAM OIED as well as with external partners to develop and maintain robust STEM pipeline programs aimed at increasing inclusion and diversity.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: providing programming, education, outreach and administrative support for student inclusion. Additionally, the coordinator will work collaboratively to develop and implement innovative initiatives for the recruitment, retention and advancement of students from diverse groups within STEM fields with the goal of building successful relationships which will enhance inclusion and diversity efforts within COSAM .

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree from and accredited institution

Field of Study

Degree in Management, Psychology, Communications or related field

Requirements for Additional Job Levels

For a Level II Minority Program Coordinator, two years’ experience in public relations, student recruitment, and/or student retention programs. .
Level III Minority Program Coordinator, four years’ experience in in public relations, student recruitment, and/or student retention programs. .

Master’s degree is desired. STEM background is desired. Experience coordinating educational programs. Understanding of the high school to college to career process, including common obstacles. Experience planning enrichment activities for college-aged students.
