Kenyon College, a co-educational, liberal arts and
sciences institution in central Ohio, invites applications for the
position of Associate Director of Institutional Research. This is a
full-time, 12-month position in the Office of Institutional
Research, reporting to the Associate Vice President for
Institutional Research.
The Associate Director will use a broad knowledge of
computing, strategic planning, student management, and statistical
and research methods to support campus decision makers with
concise, relevant, clear and accurate data and assist the AVP of
Institutional Research. The Associate Director may be responsible
for survey design, administration, analysis, and reporting;
developing and conducting research studies in response to
institutional needs; preparing quantitative and qualitative
analyses and writing reports; responding to external survey and
data reporting requests; extracting data from institutional
databases for standard and ad hoc reporting, both internal and
external; serving on and supporting committees on a variety of
topics; promoting appropriate use of institutional and survey data
to serve the broad needs of academic and non-academic units;
collaborating broadly across the institution to assist campus
constituencies with application of data and research to address
institutional concerns and questions; guiding the professional
development of student interns; and working collaboratively on
projects with colleagues within and outside the Institutional
Research office including IR student interns. The Associate
Director will have primary responsibility for coordinating IR work
in support of external data requests (U.S. News, CDS, etc.); assist
in supervising or supervising student workers; and assisting other
College offices in institutional level planning and
measurement.
Minimum Requirements:

to learn and take on new tasks. These are the minimum requirements
for a successful candidate:
a bachelor’s degree in the social sciences,
education, or a related area involving analytical and social
science research skills or the work equivalent and at least two
years of professional work experience.
Success Factors:
While no one candidate will likely possess all of the
following qualifications, experiences, and skills, a successful
candidate will bring many to the position. The candidate will have
a demonstrated ability to design and implement studies of varying
complexity, knowledge and proficiency in social science research
methodology, both quantitative and qualitative, and experience in
designing and conducting surveys and analyzing survey data. The
ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to balance work on
multiple tasks, manage competing priorities, complete assignments
on time and with a high degree of quality and responsiveness, and
take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision. The
candidate with have an interest and preferably some experience with
intern professional development.The candidate will have excellent
organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and writing skills, a
high level of computer literacy, including at least one statistical
software package (SAS, SPSS, Stata, R) and Microsoft Office
products (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word). The ideal candidate
will have some experience with online survey research tools and
using SQL for querying databases.
