The University of Akron, Office of the President, is seeking to fill the position of Manager of Presidential Events.



Primary responsibilities include:
reporting to the director of executive engagement; assisting in the managing of all presidential-level events for the Office of the President that will take place on campus, at the presidential residence and in the community; helping to develop and execute many high-level events simultaneously for the president, including dinners, receptions, community gatherings and events with other members of the senior leadership team; assisting in scheduling and managing various events for the University's Colleges and Departments; coordinating, implementing and managing numerous presidential events and programs - from invite creation and mailing to event completion; maintaining strong working relationships with the president's office, college deans, administrative faculty, and other campus personnel; working closely with on-campus catering, managing off-campus catering, and managing orders, quality control and budgeting payment for rentals with vendors; working with campus constituents on upcoming events where the president will be attending or will have a speaking role; supporting the president's executive administrative coordinator on daily scheduling, office functions, event invites, presidential meetings and office management; performing other duties as assigned by president's office staff and director of executive events; and providing functional guidance over nonexempt staff including general scheduling, assigning tasks and monitoring work activities.



Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in event planning, hospitality, catering, or related positions
  • Ability to multitask and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work nights and weekends and occasionally travel
  • Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and internet capabilities




Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an executive office or university setting
