Job Description:


The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) promotes student success and engagement by focusing on three areas: co-curricular learning, leadership and student development.

The LGBTQ+ Resource and Student Engagement Coordinator is essential to the Office of Student Engagement daily operations; providing management of and programming for the LGBTQ+ center. The Coordinator provides educational opportunities and support services for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies on Salve's campus. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with other University departments to contribute to the University's Strategic Compass of ensuring that all students feel welcome and part of the campus community. The Coordinator will strive to make Salve's campus more inclusive for LGBTQ+ students, staff, and faculty.


Educational Programming/Safe Zone Training
  • Provide on-going support and programming for the LGBTQ+ community on campus
  • Assess the programming needs of the campus community and reference best practices
  • Establish programming efforts in collaboration with OSE and Alliance (student organization) that educate, support, and bring awareness to create a more inclusive and welcoming community for our LGBTQ+ community and allies
  • Create Safe Zone trainings designed specifically for Salve Regina University
  • Establish a visible network of people on campus who have been Safe Zone trained and identify openly as allies and advocates for the LGBTQ+ community
  • Work with OSE to create information materials for staff and faculty on how to create inclusive spaces for the LGBTQ+ community
  • Create materials designated for web presence of LGBTQ+ resources and services
  • Utilize the Campus Pride Index when helping to determine further projects and goals for LGBTQ+ services
  • Partner with campus departments to create an environment that meaningfully and thoughtfully fosters a diverse learning and living environment on campus and prepares students to live in a diverse world
  • Serve as an advisor for Alliance (student organization) to provide collaboration and support from OSE
  • Review campus policies with a focus of inclusivity for LGBTQ+ students
  • Establish local community partners for resources and support
LGBTQ+ Center
  • Supervise the community space for LGBTQ+ community members and allies
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment within the LGBTQ+ center that supports all community members
  • Manage budget expenses and payments for the LGBTQ+ center programs, and trainings
  • Monitor and train all student staff that supports after-hours for the LGBTQ+ center
Student Engagement Office Operations
  • Assist in the daily operations of the Office of Student Engagement and Gerety Hall
  • Assist with the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of the Student Engagement student staff
  • Maintain inventory of the Office of Student Engagement, eSports, and LGBTQ+ center supplies and equipment as deem necessary
  • Process student organization procurement card requests. Schedule card usage, record spending, and disseminate paperwork as needed to appropriate offices
  • Manage the Office of Student Engagement check requests, credit card request, transactions, and purchases order for events/programming
  • Participate in university-wide yield programs and events, including open houses, Connection Day, and other traditional programs
  • Work major events for the Office of Student Engagement, including Fall/Spring concerts, Fall Festival Weekend, Spring Weekend, Orientation, and Senior Week
  • Assist in office-wide assessments efforts of student engagement learning outcomes
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Engagement OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Student Engagement.


Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, or a similar field preferred. Experience in working with students, staff, and faculty that identify as LGTBQ+ and allies. Working knowledge of student development theory and its application in the workplace. Ability to plan, implement and evaluate student activity programs. Ability to apply budgetary and fiscal planning techniques within financial constraints. Strong record of student advocacy and productive and collaborative working relationships across campus are required. Ability to support and identify the needs of diverse populations. Strong oral and written communication skills. Sound organizational skills with attention to detail.
