Summary of Job Duties:The Prevention Grant Specialist will provide technical assistance and training that disseminates the latest substance abuse prevention research for contracted service providers, community-based organizations, and coalitions to address methamphetamine use/dependence.

The Prevention Grant Specialist will monitor prevention service contracts of Regional Prevention Providers and other agencies contracted by UA Little Rock/MidSOUTH to provide methamphetamine prevention services in the state to assure that these providers meet their deliverables. The Specialist will have working knowledge in implementing community-based programs, media and awareness campaigns, and strategic plans. In collaboration with the prevention team, the Specialist will work with Regional Prevention Representatives to provide drug awareness and prevention services in assigned regions. This position will require statewide travel. The Specialist will report to the Prevention Grant Coordinator. This is a grant-funded position. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policies.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience
:

  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience in social work, addiction studies, public health or health education, administration, policy/planning, or in community/organizational psychology or related field;
  • Two (2) years of experience in community health, public health, working with coalitions, training, media campaigns, etc.; or any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Must be certified as a prevention specialist within 18 months.


Preferred Education and/or Experience:

Master’s Degree; Certified in Prevention;

Two (2) years of experience providing prevention activities.

Job Duties
and Responsibilities:

Coordination and Communication:

  • Assist in the creation of a statewide public information campaign;
  • Assist in facilitating training and conferences;
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between the prevention providers and MidSOUTH;
  • Maintain open, effective communication with grantor and stakeholders;
  • Support grant missions, goals, and principles.


Training and Technical Assistance

  • Assist in the development of a methamphetamine prevention toolkit, and other educational materials;
  • Work closely with prevention providers to fulfill their deliverables;
  • Assist with in-house and online prevention library;
  • Assist with annual Prevention Summit and other prevention conferences, training, and special events;
  • Actively participate in MidSOUTH team projects as needed;


Reporting and Documentation

  • Assist with data collection related to project activities as required;
  • Assist in program documentation, evaluation, and reporting requirements;


Finance and Budgeting

  • Assist with the support visits and audits of service providers to ensure deliverables are being met;


Other Duties as Required or Assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Substance Abuse Prevention;
  • Knowledge of Public relations or marketing skills;
  • Knowledge of project management;
  • Possess excellent writing, interpersonal and mediating skills;
  • Ability to meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks;
  • Possess strong project management skills;
  • Ability to make objective and ethical decisions in a multi-cultural climate;
  • Ability to manage and impart information to a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office suite;
  • Ability to travel in and out of state and overnight;
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.


Salary Information:

$36,000
