Summary of Job Duties:The Prevention Grant Coordinator will provide technical assistance and training that disseminates the latest substance abuse prevention research for contracted service providers, community-based organizations, and coalitions to address methamphetamine use/dependence.

The Prevention Grant Coordinator is responsible for the general day-to-day activities and organization of the grant. The Coordinator is responsible for assessment, capacity building, planning, implementing, and evaluating activities associated with the grant priorities. The Coordinator will be skilled in implementing evidence-based prevention initiatives based on comprehensive knowledge of effective policies, the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), and program guidelines of documented effectiveness. In collaboration with the prevention team, the coordinator will work with Regional Prevention Representatives to provide methamphetamine awareness and prevention services in assigned regions. This position will require statewide travel. The Prevention Grant Coordinator will report to the Prevention Program Manager. This is a grant-funded position. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policies.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience
:

  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience in social work, public health or health education, administration, policy/planning, or in community/organizational psychology or related field;
  • Three (3) years of experience in community health, public health, working with coalitions, training, media campaigns, etc.; or any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training. 2 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Must be certified as a prevention specialist within 18 months.


Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Master’s Degree; Certified in Prevention;
  • Four (4) years of experience providing prevention activities.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative and Supervisory:

• Oversee the Methamphetamine prevention service contractors statewide;

• Support grant missions, goals, and principles;

Coordination and Communication:

• Assist in the creation of a statewide public information campaign;

• Assist in the coordination of statewide and regional training and conferences;

• Facilitate communication and coordination with Regional Prevention Representative RPRs and other prevention providers;

• Maintain open, effective communication with grantor and stakeholders;

Training and Technical Assistance
• Assist in the development of a methamphetamine prevention toolkit, and other educational materials;
• Ability to apply evidence-based Strategic Prevention Framework planning steps and strategies;
• Work closely with each Regional Prevention Representative (RPR) and other prevention service providers to provide technical assistance and training as needed;
• Assist with in-house and online prevention library;
• Assist with annual Prevention Summit and other prevention conferences, training, and special events;
• Actively participate in MidSOUTH team projects as needed;

Reporting and Documentation
• Assist with collecting data and compiling monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reporting related to project activities as required;
• Assist in program documentation, evaluation, and reporting requirements;

Finance and Budgeting
• Conduct and oversee the support visits and audits of each RPP to ensure deliverables are being met.

  • Ability to travel in and out of state and overnight.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license


Salary Information:

$45,000
