THE DEPARTMENT OF AEROSPACE ENGINEERING AND ENGINEERING MECHANICS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN has a tenure-track position beginning Fall 2022 in the area of Foundations and Applications of Machine Learning. Topics of expertise include, but are not limited to, scientific machine learning, controls, verification, flight performance optimization and predictive analytics, with applications to air mobility systems, aerospace materials, hypersonics, remote sensing, space domain awareness and robotics, and other aerospace systems. Candidates with expertise in machine learning related to one or more of these areas are encouraged to apply.While the emphasis is on the quality and originality of the candidate's work and timeliness of their research vision, a particular focus will be placed upon the potential for supporting the design, analysis, development, manufacture, certification and/or operation of next-generation aerospace systems. We seek synergies between successful applicants in multiple departments, thus a demonstrated ability to work across disciplines is essential. The position is expected to be filled at the rank of assistant professor. Qualifications:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in engineering or a related field. Successful candidates are expected to supervise graduate students, offer courses to our diverse bodies of undergraduate and graduate student populations, develop a high-impact sponsored research program, collaborate with others from a wide range of backgrounds, and be involved in service to the university and the engineering profession. .
