Instructor of Equestrian Studies

The Equestrian Studies Program at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Instructor to begin (August 2022).  The successful candidate must have a MS in Equine Science or related professional certifications, and should possess a broad and versatile background in the areas of English riding instruction, coaching competitive riding teams, equestrian facility management, and therapeutic riding instruction.

The position requires teaching a course load of 12 credits each semester. The candidate should be able to teach courses in hunter seat equitation, advanced horse training, and therapeutic riding (principles, instructor training, and volunteer experience). The therapeutic riding courses require the instructor to maintain working relationships with the client organizations and to oversee the safety of the therapy clients in addition to the student instructors. Other duties include assisting in program recruitment and assessment; being on call for horse management throughout the academic year; assisting in horse recruitment and maintenance for the riding program; overseeing student barn work; and managing and securing student internships. Salary will begin in the high $30,000s, commensurate with experience.
