Job Description

The Cultural and Community Centers (CCCs) encourage student, faculty, and staff belonging and inclusion through programming, active and individualized care, mentoring, and support. The CCCs include El Centro (Hispanic and Latinx Cultural Center), the Asian Cultural Engagement Center (ACEC), the Black Cultural Center (BCC), the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, the American Indian and Indigenous Community Center (AIICC), and the Ujima Living-Learning Community.

The position will support CCC fiscal operations, working with the fiscal staff in the Office for Inclusion and Diversity and the Office of the Provost to process program contracts and purchases. Working with the center directors, the program manager will serve as the primary point of contact to ensure that all requests related to the day-to-day operation of the centers, the implementation of scheduled programs and events, and support of student groups and organizations affiliated with the centers are submitted in a timely and efficient manner, and that information needed for approval and processing requests is available.

The program manager will also work with the center directors and student staff to plan, market, and implement programs that enhance campus climate and education campus constituencies about issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with related experience equivalent to a graduate level degree.
• Consistent experience working with underrepresented and underserved students
• Demonstrated ability to plan and implement educational and informational programs in a diverse cultural environment
• Strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate and collaborate effectively with a broad range of constituencies including students, staff, and faculty
• Computer skills involving spreadsheets, word processing, web based interactive communications, social media and/or other applications utilizing software applicable to function
• Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously, responding effectively to needs in a dynamic organizational setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree
• Prior experience in purchasing/fiscal operations, including knowledge of HokieMart or similar purchasing systems.
• Have a working knowledge of student development theory, social justice training and diversity education
