Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Working under the leadership of the Director of lifePATH, builds student relationships to determine career goals, builds community relations to determine student match to internships and develops and coordinates internships internally and externally by ensuring goals and objectives are accomplished by providing post-secondary educational opportunities for students who have disabilities that affect executive functioning.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Identify, develop, and monitor current internship sites to evaluate appropriateness and relevance of internships, evaluate policy and procedures, and support the internship, job shadowing, or volunteer work provider
  2. Collaborate with the lifePATH Director to create procedures that solidify the quality of student learning during internships, job shadowing, volunteer work, etc. and create procedures
  3. Visits potential internship providers, promote lifePATH students, gather information and maintain a detailed database pertaining to providing internships, job shadowing, and volunteer work opportunities
  4. Review student career assessments, career goals and preferences in order to collaborate with each lifePATH student about relevant internship possibilities
  5. Assist in the development of marketing materials promoting lifePATH students internships, and distribute to the community using both electronic and hard copy materials
  6. Collaborate with departments to secure volunteer opportunities, job shadowing, internships, or future employment within the college system
  7. Counsel and advise students regarding employment opportunities in the local area for both future career and immediate employment needs
  8. Plan and conduct internship workshops and informative promotional materials with updates as needed
  9. Collaborate and assist other career and employment focused faculty and staff with various campus events and activities throughout the year (career fairs, employer visits, etc.)
  10. Keep current with best practices pertaining to internships, collaborating with the director about information dissemination
  11. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned




KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of the needs of high schools, colleges and the communities served
  • Ability to establish cooperative working relationships in the course of performing assigned duties

  • Knowledge of current management practices, database management systems, software used for analysis of data, marketing and recruitment strategies and data interpretation and evaluation

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain confidential information


PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.



WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management or a related field and 5 years of non-teaching work experience in the field
  • Experience facilitating, managing, creating or providing student internships
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working with individuals or educating individuals with disabilities in an educational setting, social service, or vocational rehabilitation setting
  • Experience working with business partners, social services, educational institutions and parents
Salary

Hiring salary range is $52,430-$60,295

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer. The information outlined below will provide the Office of Human Resources everything needed to determine an accurate starting salary.
