Position Summary

Trinity College seeks a staff that reflects the changing demographics of our student body. Trinity College is seeking a sustainability coordinator who will support campus initiatives and create a campus culture that embraces and promotes environmental consciousness and sustainability. This role serves as a core resource for the campus community looking to engage in sustainable practices and demonstrates our commitment and shared responsibility to address climate change.


Duties and Responsibilities


● Works with the Summit Sustainability Committee to achieve objectives laid out in the Sustainability Action Plan.
● Publishes biannual reports related to sustainability initiatives and progress made.
● Completes the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education ( AASHE ) Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System ( STARS ) Report every three years.
● Fosters collaborative initiatives amongst campus groups.
● Tracks, analyzes, and reports on sustainability related data including progress on campus initiatives, energy consumption, and waste management.
● Works closely with the Office of Community Service and Civic Engagement to maintain the college’s composting program, universal waste management program, campus thrift store, and other student led initiatives.
● Communicates the College’s sustainability efforts to the greater community and maintains informational resources on the college website.
● Works with food service, facilities, and other vendors on sustainable initiatives.
● Researches and prepares applications for grants and other financial opportunities related to energy and sustainability.
● Participates in the College’s curriculum if requested by faculty.
● Works with outside regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

Minimum of two years of experience in sustainable organizing. The ability to maintain and keep track of specific facets of an institutional sustainability initiative. Skill set should include:
● A degree in a relevant field.
● Strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
● Strong record of leadership and responsibility.
● Experience in promoting sustainability (environmentally, economically, or socially) on a college campus.
● Flexibility in schedule.
● Excellent organization and communication skills.
● Competence in data analysis (Excel or equivalent).
● Strong writing/presentation skills.
● Experience working with college students in non-academic program and project work.

Physical Demands
Must be able to visit various locations throughout campus at any given time.
