The Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations develops, plans and implements comprehensive Alumni Relations and Annual Giving programs to increase alumni participation and giving to the College of Visual and Performing Arts. Plans and manages a diverse program of local, regional and national alumni events and designs annual alumni communications program. Working with VPA `s Career Services, identifies and recruits VPA alumni to participate in the VPA Career Network. Assists in developing Career Network events on campus and in major regional markets. Collaborates with the AEA Corporate and Foundation Relations ( CFR ) team to build a pipeline of potential corporate partners and prepares personalized proposals for support and makes solicitations at the $10K – $30K level. In coordination with AEA, the Associate Director determines annual giving and alumni participation goals, and designs plans to achieve those objectives. The Associate Director identifies, qualifies, cultivates, and stewards alumni with the capacity to give at Annual Giving all the way through Major Gift levels. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. 3-5 years of alumni relations and annual giving experience, preferably in a higher education setting. Job Specific Qualifications
Demonstrated success with personal solicitations. Strong writing, planning and organizational skills. Demonstrated organizational and communication skills as well as ability to work with other development professionals. Understanding of volunteer management best practices. Experience working with constituent database. Familiarity with the visual and performing arts a plus. Highly professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information. Responsibilities
Direct Donor/Alumni/Parent Outreach and Prospect Management
  • Work closely with various AEA teams to identify and cultivate donors, overseeing growing portfolios and VPA
  • Boost the “Cuse” giving days.
  • Manage an assigned gift prospect/donor portfolio of VPA alumni, parents and friends in-line with AEA guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with college academic units and programs relevant to assigned prospects.
  • Design and implement cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies in support of VPA¿s strategic plan and help to build a stronger pipeline of new giving and donors.
  • Collaborate with Regional Advancement, Leadership Annual Giving and Development Associates from AEA to cultivate, solicit and steward shared prospects.
  • Serve as liaison with Corporate and Foundation Relations Office for corporate supporters of the College.
  • Oversee VPA annual appeals, working in close coordination with AEA Direct Response unit.
  • Analyze results for each program and provides regular progress reports to Assistant Dean and Dean with recommendations for program enhancements.
  • Identify and develop new initiatives and fundraising campaigns for specific academic units and specialty programs.

Manage the VPA Young Alumni Council and Coordinate Alumni Volunteers
  • Plan and manage activities of the VPA Young Alumni Council, including prospective member identification, recruitment and nominations coordination of meetings and activities.
  • Ensure 100% philanthropic participation by YAC members and serve as the YAC’s primary liaison and representative to academic units, identifying opportunities for members to speak to classes, serve on panels, mentor students and support admissions outreach and yield activities.
  • Coordinate with Administrative Assistant to ensure volunteer status and activities are accurately recorded in CITRUS database.
Leads VPA Career Network and Corporate Engagement Initiatives
  • Work in close collaboration with the VPA Career Services team to identify and recruit VPA alumni to for specialized classroom and studio visits, panel discussions, and portfolio reviews, among other activities.
  • Partner with Career Services to identify potential funding sources for VPA immersion programs.
  • Develop proposals, cultivate and solicit donors and develop stewardship materials and activities.
  • Work with the AEA Corporate and Foundation Relations to identify, cultivate, and develop corporate partners fundraising initiative. Identifies, cultivates and solicits VPA Corporate Partners to ensure they are connected with VPA leadership, faculty and students.
Leads VPA Alumni Engagement Events and Other Activities
  • Serve as primary liaison between Alumni Relations office and VPA .
  • Oversee activities for Orange Central.
  • Identify opportunities for VPA faculty, students, and alumni to participate in university-wide alumni relations programs.
  • Oversee logistics for local, regional, and national alumni engagement events and reunions in partnership with relevant faculty when appropriate (including pre- and post-event communication and stewardship, venue selection and contracts, post event analysis),
  • Coordinate with Administrative Assistant to ensure volunteer status and activities are accurately recorded in CITRUS database.
  • Coordinate and acts as VPA and/or Assistant Dean’s representative (as needed) during receptions, gatherings and seminars involving prospective donors, local/regional alumni visits, and events as needed.
Manage Alumni Communication Program
  • Work closely with VPA Communication team to develop ongoing communication initiatives for alumni and donors, including monthly newsletters and special updates.
  • Suggest and develop content and ensures that philanthropy and planned giving opportunities are included or reflected when appropriate.
