This position is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive strategy for engaging and recruiting Syracuse University students in Syracuse Abroad (SA) center and World Partner programs and initiatives, in collaboration with communications and admissions staff, and with special attention devoted to diverse and underrepresented groups of students. This role will also coordinate outreach efforts with the SA Institutional Relations (external recruitment) team, and develop integrated outreach plans, particularly in the virtual space.

The Campus Outreach Manager will serve as the point person for the planning and coordination of Syracuse Abroad special events and presentations, and will oversee and engage a team of student global ambassadors and work study students. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred. At least 2 years of professional experience. Experience living, working, or studying abroad strongly preferred. Job Specific Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across multiple departments.
  • Ability to engage and delegate tasks to student study abroad alumni in order to meet objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills; demonstrated ability to effectively engage, support and excite diverse populations.
  • Must be enthusiastic about international education.
  • Experience studying, living or working abroad.
  • Ability to multi-task and keep track of progress on multiple key action items at once.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to implement marketing and social media strategies and organize/execute virtual outreach initiatives.
  • Understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion.
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
Responsibilities
Create and implement a strategy for recruiting Syracuse University students for Syracuse study abroad programs: identify areas of interest, potential, and growth in study abroad recruitment on campus; excite and engage students, academic advisors and other campus partners in study abroad options.
  • Create an annual plan for engaging target populations.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, academic advisors and student organizations to host targeted programming events, presentations or initiatives, and distribute information about study abroad.
  • Organize and plan special events (i.e. Welcome Week, Study Abroad Week, alumni events, Fall/Spring receptions, etc.).
  • Collaborate with external recruitment team to develop integrated outreach plans. Coordinate general advising initiatives and manage Syracuse Abroad’s presence at Bird Library.
Lead team of Syracuse Abroad student global ambassadors (study abroad alumni) in assisting with recruitment, peer advising and reentry programming on campus. Recruit, organize, train, and supervise student study abroad alumni.

Work closely with marketing staff on promotional materials, marketing and social media strategies, and other virtual outreach initiatives. Generate leads of prospective students.

Stay up to date on all aspects of programs at Syracuse Abroad centers, Syracuse summer programs, and those offered through partner programs.

Engage in domestic and international travel as needed. Attend study abroad fairs at partner institutions and/or represent Syracuse Abroad at professional conferences. Physical Requirements
