A full-time tenure track position in the Department of Engineering, with a specialty in the area of civil engineering and expertise in surface water and ground water interaction.

 

Qualifications and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following lists:

 

Qualifications (required):

· A Ph.D. in Engineering with Civil Engineering Concentration.

· Environmental Engineering background.

· Surface and ground water interaction expertise.

· ABET-EAC compliance experience.

· Professional engineer’s license or the ability to obtain a professional engineer’s license.

· Demonstrated English communication skills.

· Prior teaching experience.

 

Responsibilities:

· Teaching a broad range of civil engineering courses including Environmental Engineering, Construction Materials, Computer Aided Engineering/Design Tools using Revit, Engineering Graphics using AutoCAD, Construction Management, Statics, and Strength of Materials.

· Directing, conducting, and publishing results of applied research.

· Advising senior design projects.

· Evaluating and improving curriculum, courses, and laboratories.

· Developing innovative instructional techniques and reporting on the methods and technology.

· Recruiting and advising engineering students.

· Participating in and providing leadership for engineering professional societies.

· Working closely in partnership with engineers in government, industry, and private practice

The University:

The University of Tennessee at Martin is a primary campus in The University of Tennessee system. The campus is in northwest Tennessee, approximately 125 miles north of Memphis and 150 miles west of Nashville. The University of Tennessee at Martin has a combined graduate and undergraduate enrollment of approximately 7,300. The emphasis of the department is solidly on excellence in teaching, undergraduate senior design and internship experiences and career preparation. We seek candidates who demonstrate a similar commitment. In the Fall of 2022, the department of Engineering will move into a new 120,000 sq. ft. Engineering and Science building. The department includes six tenured/tenure track faculty members, two term faculty and three part time retired faculty with nearly 250 undergraduate majors (over 25% of whom are first-generation college students), and offers an ABET accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (BSE) with concentrations in civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, and mechatronics engineering. The department is developing a standalone BS in Mechanical Engineering (BSME). All students must take and pass the FE Exam in order to graduate.
