Student Engagement Assistant I (Part-time)

We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Respond to and resolve student issues or concerns. Provide general office support and assist in training and monitoring work of student assistants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the assistant director in making necessary preparations and completing appropriate paperwork to facilitate Student Engagement departmental operations, including typing and proofreading letters, memoranda, minutes, requisitions, assorted documents, contracts and check requests, maintaining files and developing forms and documents.
  • Carry out diverse office support and customer service duties, including maintaining student organization activity calendar, processing student organization paperwork, answering and directing calls to appropriate personnel and screening/sorting incoming mail.
  • Assist with training and/or monitoring the work of student employees, as delegated by the assistant director.
  • Maintain office supplies and equipment inventory.
  • Greet, interact and work cooperatively with students, faculty/staff and community members and refer individuals to appropriate campus resources, when necessary.
  • Process and update lost and found database.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises, gases and workspace restrictions. In addition, incumbents may be subjected to vibrations, chemicals and oils. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalency certificate and two (2) years of related experience required. Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution, preferred.

NOTE: This position is generally limited to working a maximum of 14.5 hours per week. (Maximum hours for employees with more than one part-time position at Collin College may vary.)
