The Director of the Barbara and Larry Efaw Center for Educator Excellence is a new position in the College of Education. The Center for Educator Excellence Director will be responsible for planning and establishing the Center, developing its vision and direction, and implementing all activities. The Director must think broadly about the lifespan of educators and administrators and the supports that are needed from pre-service candidates to in-service professionals as the framework for the Center.

The primary focus of the Center and the Director’s work will be on the success of undergraduate and graduate education and administration majors in the college and all teacher education candidates in the five colleges across the university. The Director will develop, implement, and evaluate support services and orchestrate community outreach opportunities for students training to be future educators and administrators. The Director will also serve as a member of the leadership team for the College of Education and will work with campus and community constituencies.

  Required Qualifications
  1. Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or closely related field.
  2. Three years of related professional experience in a college or university environment coaching students, mentoring, or teaching.
  3. Demonstrated experience providing professional learning opportunities to teacher candidates and practicing teachers.
  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with people of differing backgrounds.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work independently, be flexible, and effectively contribute to a leadership team with a learner-centered and service-oriented philosophy.
  6. Demonstrated ability to create a climate that contributes to a positive, healthy, and welcoming work environment with people of differing life experiences and identities.
  7. Demonstrated leadership in program development, implementation, and assessment.
  8. A demonstrated commitment to advancing the vision of culturally appropriate services that value diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. Please see Universities, DEIA definitions ( 
Desired Qualifications
  1. Experience making budgetary decisions that are strategic in nature.
  2. Evidence of scholarship.
  3. An understanding of processes for securing internal and external funding.
Work Hours

Core Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
2. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

Commensurate with qualifications and experience, combined with an excellent benefits package
