Position Summary

UB Business and Entrepreneur Partnerships ( BEP ) is looking for someone with a unique perspective that can add to our diversity of thought and find and grow diverse-high-potential startups that come from UB Alumni, UB Students, ecosystem Partners or other founders in Western NY. This person will not only find these startups but will also prepare them to enter one of the University at Buffalo’s (UB) Startup Ventures ( SUV ) acceleration programs with the goal of positively impacting Western NY. As the Startup Success Manager, you will be the primary owner for building the funnel of high-potential startups and preparing them to enter the UB Startup Ventures portfolio. Under the direction of the Director, Startup Ventures, you as the Startup Success Manager will:
  • Build an annual funnel of diverse startups from target founders such that the BEP Startup Portfolio growth and diversity goals are met. This will be accomplished by leveraging existing startup funnel sources as well as establishing new funnel sources to foster a community of startups preparing to be SUV clients.
  • Leverage UB resources and networks to develop new startup preparation programs to prepare the startups to enter the BEP SUV Portfolio.
  • Engage startups directly to ensure they are receiving the help and resources they need and are progressing towards significant growth milestones.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years’ experience in entrepreneurship or progressive entrepreneurship experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategies to achieve objectives.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing outreach and networking programs in diverse demographics.
  • Experience participating in or facilitating formal startup accelerator programs.
