Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the position of Academic Technology Specialist I. This position reports directly to the Director of Academic Technologies and is located in River Forest, IL.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Provide Tier 2 technical support to students, faculty, and staff in using academic technologies to enable teaching and learning
  • Design, present, and publish training and support resources, workshops, orientations, and courses to faculty and students
  • Work closely with the technology teams and other staff in strategic divisional planning
  • Design and implement queries and reports for analytic analysis (using A4L)
  • Support and administrate the web conferencing system for the University (Zoom, Bb Collaborate)
  • Store, organize, and provide access control in a document management system
  • Provide on call support on nights and weekends via the SolarWinds web helpdesk system
  • Candidates must be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago. Additionally, they must profess values congruent with the teachings of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS).

Skill Sets:

  • Experience using new technologies to deliver or supplement teaching and learning; experience developing and delivering training workshops or training packages
  • Excellent oral, written, and instructional communication skills are required to work effectively within a team-oriented environment and with multi-disciplinary faculty with varying levels of instructional technology skills
  • Knowledge of best practices in instructional technologies
  • Current technology skills
  • Experience in providing technical support in a higher education environment preferred
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Exhibits a service mentality toward all stakeholders
  • All communication with stakeholders is effective, professional, accurate, and timely
  • Improves work performance and that of others by being receptive to and appropriately sharing information

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Prior experience supporting a learning management system (working with Blackboard specifically preferred)
  • Higher Education experience
  • Working with both Windows and Macintosh platforms

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in a related field required, Master's Degree in a related field preferred
