Position Title Software Trainer and Support Specialist Overview
Provide staff, faculty, graduate assistants, and student workers with training on Microsoft applications including OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, Stream, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Forms, Bookings, Word, Sway, and OneNote. Essential Duties:
1. Conduct workshops on the use of Microsoft apps and other software on a regular basis for staff, faculty, graduate assistants, and student workers. Develop reference materials, videos, and go-to guides for the campus community. Schedule workshops on a regular basis to accommodate user schedules.
2. Participate in webinars, meetings, conferences, online trainings, and discussions to keep current with the technology. Learn about new services, offerings, and functionality and make recommendations on how the software could be utilized and implemented within the departments. Review vendor release notices to learn of new features; test, and document the new functionality, and update reference materials on IT training website to reflect software updates.
3. Assist users who have questions or issues with using the supported software. Collaborate with the Information Technology department, specifically the Assistant Director of Technology Resources and User Support Services, in providing any additional technology training, support, and troubleshooting needed by the users. Evaluate the technology needs based on the types and numbers of help desk tickets. Collaborate with User Support to determine how to best provide additional training and support in these areas of need. (30%)
4. Participate in technology committees, group collaboration projects, and presentations. Marginal Duties:
Perform all other duties as may be required. Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Two to four years of professional experience, preferably in a higher education environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, and effectively collaborate with a team.
