Department Summary
The Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact is a billion-dollar initiative designed to fast-track scientific discoveries and the process of turning those discoveries into innovations that improve the quality of life for people in Oregon, the nation, and beyond. The Knight Campus will reshape the higher education landscape in Oregon by training the next generations of scientists, forging tighter ties with industry and entrepreneurs, and creating new educational opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students.
Position Summary
The Knight Campus seeks a detail-oriented, adaptable, organized, and communicative individual to provide high-level business coordination for our centers and programs.
The Business Coordinator (BC) will be responsible for a broad set of assignments related to the Knight Campus centers and programs portfolios. This position will require the ability to work independently, demonstrate sound judgment, and exercise creative problem-solving skills while providing high-level administrative and business coordination to multiple Knight Campus units. This will include supporting the purchasing, human resources, and financial operations for between four to six units, including but not limited to the Knight Campus centers, Human Performance Alliance at Oregon, and other Knight Campus programs. They will interact regularly with external constituents, administrative colleagues, faculty, and students.
This position will report directly to the Assistant Director of Academic Administration and will be an essential role on a growing team. The Business Coordinator will be a crucial element of the support structure that is necessary for the billion-dollar academic, research, and innovation enterprise of the Knight Campus.
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree PLUS three years of progressively
responsible experience in business, finance, or purchasing
administration
OR - Five years of progressively responsible experience in business,
finance, or purchasing administration.
Professional Competencies - Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, including the ability
to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse
backgrounds and cultures, and commitment to promoting an inclusive
work environment.
- Demonstrated strong organizational and analytical skills with
close attention to detail.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with overlapping
deadlines and frequent interruptions while maintaining a high level
of customer service and professionalism.
- Demonstrated proficiency with software programs including
HRIS/FIS platforms, MS Office Suite, Google Suite, and Adobe.
Preferred Qualifications - A Bachelor's or advanced degree in Business, Finance,
Management, Public Administration, or a closely related
field.
- One or more years of project management experience related to
business or finance administration in higher education, research
organizations, or a related environment.
- One or more years of experience with A/P and A/R.
- Experience providing customer service in a professional
environment.
- Experience with BANNER, Concur and/or similar financial
information systems.
