The University of Oklahoma School of Music seeks a dedicated teacher of Oboe to join a program and faculty long known for the nurturing and development of musicians and teachers in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:  

The ideal candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate applied oboe, hold a weekly studio class, teach reed making class, coach chamber music, collaborate with OU School of Music faculty, engage in effective recruiting activities, maintain an international, national, and regional teaching and performing outreach schedule, and serve on various committees as assigned by the Director of the OU School of Music.  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:  

Earned M.M. in oboe performance. Evidence of successful teaching and performing. 

 

Desired Qualifications:  

Earned doctoral degree in oboe performance or equivalent professional experience. Evidence of successful recruiting, mentoring, and teaching at the collegiate level. Experience guiding creative activity at the graduate level. Creative/scholarly accomplishments demonstrated through national and international performances, master classes, presentations at conferences, recordings, publications, and/or professional leadership. We are especially interested in candidates who will help cultivate the uniquely collaborative atmosphere in our woodwind program and who can contribute, through their teaching, performing, and service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community and who will work to build relationships with other departments within the College and the University.
