The Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C and I) seeks scholars for an open rank, full-time, tenure-track position at the assistant or associate faculty level to begin in August 2022. We seek candidates who are committed to academic excellence and innovation. C and I provides two undergraduate programs (B.S. in elementary education and a secondary education minor program), a teacher residency program, and is currently developing an online master’s program. The Department also enjoys working with several school districts through our university partnerships.

Teacher Education
Preferred candidates should have demonstrated: a) an academic foundation in theory and practice related to teacher education; b) emphasis on equitable assessment for diverse learners; c) evidence of successful university instruction at undergraduate and graduate levels; d) experience teaching in K-12 educational settings; e) excellence in research related to urban education with emphasis on African American learners; and f) established grant and publication record.
Details:
Candidates must commit to: working in a productive, collegial atmosphere; preparing teachers to serve diverse populations in urban environments; developing and delivering undergraduate and graduate courses; advising students, and supporting student scholarship. Other requirements include an earned doctorate in an appropriate field and three or more years of K-12 teaching experience.
