Job Summary:

This position performs a variety of HVAC (and MEP) related tasks for assessments of repairs. This position will work under UW Physical Plant in the Facility Specialist Group for management and responsibilities. Responsibilities include the assessment of existing systems and equipment, perform campus HVAC system inspections for planning, maintenance scheduling strategy, and preparation of maintenance lists and schedules. Responsibilities also include playing an active role in projects including; plan review, contractor inspections during construction and final commissioning review and assessment.

Work is performed under the general direction of the UW-Madison Senior Campus Facilities Engineer and is supervised by the Associate Director of Physical Plant.

Goals and Working Activities:
A. Assist in managing HVAC system and equipment assessments on new and existing facilities. These assessments could be maintenance, condition, or capacity related. Prepare scope and budget reports on systems in need of repair.
1. To document system and equipment assessments in electronic files for future reference for DFD replacement, upgrade, and repair submittals.
2. To prioritize the systems and equipment to have UW Shops or outside Contractors do needed repairs or replacements.
3. To show work to UW Shops and/or Contractors to make sure repair technique is correct to the system situation.
4. To contact outside contractors to perform work under direction and supervision (once contracts are in place)

B. To do campus related HVAC system inspections per building. This would include facilities located not on campus as directed by the Facilities Engineer. Inspections will be documented on UW Inspection form for record and stored electronically for future documentation.
1. Inspections will serve as documentation which will include system type, age, condition, estimated repair or replacement timing.
2. In some cases, this Individual will work with UW Shops to determine system functionality and lead/asbestos testing for project submittal.

C. Individual will be responsible for Contractor Quality Assurance for any needed repairs, replacements or on new construction. Individual will work with Capital Planning for HVAC details and HVAC
coordination on Capitol Project and any DFD small project replacements. Individual will assist in coordinated efforts to review and comment on proper HVAC related details.
1. Review any plan related documents for new construction and report results as needed.
2. Monitor all needed repairs to systems to assure contractors are doing appropriate work in accordance with the State Specifications.
3. Assist in system maintenance scheduling, contractor pre-bid showings and attend pre-con meetings.
4. Prepare system repair lists based off current inspections.

D. Individual will be HVAC System Analyst to keep up on HVAC system repair solutions through current training. The individual will be a main source of training others as a need to know for HVAC systems to ensure campus buildings remain functional.
1. Individual will train UW Shops and Contractors as needed for repairs as dependent on the appropriate HVAC system.
