Job Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Assistant Dean for Advancement and Communications, the Director of Strategic Communications develops and executes communication strategies across all channels, through high impact messages and innovative user experiences, positioning the school as a leader in wellbeing for children, families, consumers, and communities. The Director leads the SoHE communications team in managing campaigns and initiatives, encompassing email, web, social media, print and other channels.

The Director serves as the leader in developing and implementing cohesive, integrated communications and marketing strategies that strengthen the School of Human Ecology's brand, enhance visibility, and promote a range of high-quality educational and engagement opportunities to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other constituents. This position is responsible for managing media relations, crisis communications, communication strategies for central or departmental priorities, and brand strategies in collaboration with University partners to ensure strategic alignment.

This position works closely with faculty and staff leading undergraduate and graduate student enterprises, Centers, Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA) as well as other stakeholders and affinity groups throughout the school.

Required
Bachelor's Degree
Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field

Preferred
Master's Degree

Qualifications:

Required:
- Minimum six years of experience in a professional communications position
- Supervision experience
- Experience developing and executing communications and marketing strategies
- Experience with managing content on a variety of platforms including websites, digital media, social media, print and video
- Experience managing multiple, concurrent projects to completions within target deadlines
- Experience working in collaborative project environments
- Experience working independently
- Demonstrated excellence in communication skills with an emphasis on written communications.

Preferred:
- Experience with cross-cultural communications, reaching diverse audiences and accessibility best practices.
- Experience translating strategic thinking into executable plans and project management.
