Shenandoah University’s Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy is accepting applications for a Pharmacy Admissions Counselor. This is a full-time benefited position located on our Health Professions Building campus in Winchester, Virginia.

Responsibilities:

The Pharmacy Admissions Counselor implements recruitment initiatives, provides expert c ounseling to prospective students, and assists prospective students throughout the application process.

The primary responsibilities of this position are to: (1) represent the School of Pharmacy and the University both internally and externally in a professional manner; (2) serve prospective students as an expert counselor throughout the application process; (3) implement pharmacy student recruitment strategies.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate with the School of Pharmacy Director of Admissions to implement the recruitment and outreach plan
    • Enthusiastically and professionally represent the university at on and off campus recruitment events
    • Travel to recruiting visits and outreach/educational events
    • Prepare and deliver admissions presentations to large and small groups, as needed
    • Plan and conduct information sessions, open houses, and other admissions events
  • Provide potential applicants with information on admissions requirements, procedures, and application process
    • Counsel prospective students in assigned programs through the application process by communicating timely information
    • Meet with visiting prospective students
    • Prepare and deliver applications for review by the admissions committee
    • Compare official transcripts to unofficial transcripts in order to check for accuracy
  • Maintain a creative and engaging social media presence for the School of Pharmacy in order to reach prospective students as well as alumni and external stakeholders
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
Required Skills

Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn admissions-related software programs
  • Attention to details, ability to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy office and the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Self-motivation, with an enthusiastic and curious approach to the position
  • Ability and willingness to work evening hours, weekends and overnight travel
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record and ability to pass a DMV check
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs into and out of vehicle
