Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Literacy Education faculty position in the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education, beginning August 1, 2022. 

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate literacy education courses, and other related courses as needed
  • Modeling effective teaching practices
  • Service to the department, college, university, community, and profession
  • Maintaining an active research and scholarship agenda

Other responsibilities that might be included:

  • Program development expectations
  • Student recruitment
  • Dissertation/thesis supervision
  • Clinical supervision
  • Mentoring
  • Working with a diverse community

 

Required Qualifications Include:

  • An earned doctorate in literacy, reading, elementary education, or curriculum and instruction with 18 hours in literacy/reading, or the foreign equivalent
  • At least three years of teaching experience in PK to grade 5
  • Evidence of a commitment to working in an environment that values diversity, inclusion, and collaboration
  • Expertise with evidence-based literacy strategies and multiple literacies/new literacies
  • Experience and expertise with instruction and intervention for dyslexia and reading achievement in various contexts
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge of Universal Design for Learning practices
  • Evidence of the ability to conduct scholarly activity

 

Preferred Qualifications Include:

  • Experience teaching PK-5 in diverse settings
  • Experience with teaching research-based, culturally responsive literacy strategies at the university level
  • Evidence of teaching online or hybrid courses
  • A strong commitment to inclusive teaching practices
  • Evidence of scholarship/creative activities in diverse settings
  • Evidence of teaching and working with a culturally and ethnically diverse community
