The college is seeking an equity centered, collaborative and creative leader who will bring their authentic self, integrity, and enthusiasm to effectively navigate a large multi-campus environment during a time of major organizational change. The Dean of Academic & Career Pathways for Public Service, Education & Social Science will have a deep commitment to fostering racial and social justice, be self-reflective, culturally aware and committed to anti-racist values and leadership practices to disrupt, engage, and reflect on inequitable policies, practices, and systems.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience incorporating a systems perspective of higher education and community college best practices into educational settings. They will develop, incorporate and implement new strategies and practices according to the emerging vision of the pathway and the college. The Pathway Dean will also have direct experience and strong knowledge of best practices for designing or deepening college initiatives to address equitable student success and identify opportunity gaps.

Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Academic and Career Pathways, the Dean of Academic and Career Pathways for Public Services, Education & Social Sciences ( organizational chart here ), will lead a team of program deans and other managers and work collaboratively and respectfully with students, faculty and staff to provide an integrated delivery of lower division collegiate and career technical programs.

Portland Community College serves nearly 60,000 full and part-time students across a large and diverse service area, with four campuses and multiple education centers.   • Experience managing and developing multiple people and programs (both Lower Division Collegiate and Career Technical Education) with competing and complex priorities by engaging in active listening and collaboration.
  • Successful application of a collaborative, cross-department, co-creative leadership approach to coordinate/engage diverse stakeholders in a dynamic system
  • Experience co-creating, designing, and sharing transparent assessment and evaluation of services/processes and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data for continuous quality improvement through the strategic use of culturally responsive data.
  • Analyzes systems, policies and practices and commits to continuous program improvement through the strategic use of culturally responsive data. Experience working within and between various systems, spanning silos, creating interconnections and encouraging opportunities for creativity and collaboration.
  • Co-creator with other management, faculty, staff and students to sculpt a clear vision and collaborative direction for the pathway based on their prior college teaching and curriculum development experiences as a part time or full-time faculty member, department chair or other role in college administration.
Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
  • Master’s Degree
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional experience related to the area of assignment, providing program/project management or program/project coordination
  • Four (4) years of higher education management/supervisory experience
Position Grade O Starting Salary Expectations Minimum $105,827 to range midpoint of $129,640. Placement will generally not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Position Grade Salary Range $105827 to $153451 Annual Salary FTE 1 PCC Benefits

PCC currently fully funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. After one year of management or confidential service, PCC also provides a 2% contribution to a 403(b) account for eligible management and confidential personnel. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work environment includes frequent disruptions and changes in priorities. Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required. Frequent travel to other locations is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily. Background Check Required Yes
