The college is seeking a collaborative transformational leader who will effectively navigate a large multi-campus environment during a time of organizational change. Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Academic & Career Pathways, the Dean of Academic & Career Pathways for Academic Foundations, Essentials & Gateways will lead a team of managers to provide integrated delivery of precollege, entry level, and transfer courses and programs (organizational chart linked here) . The programs/ disciplines in this administrative area include; Adult Basic Education, College Success, English Speakers of other Languages, Reading, Writing, English, and Math at all levels. Due to the diversity of programs within this pathway, this position is central to strengthening the bridges between academic programs and forging relationships with other pathways and with external partners in an effort to create a smooth transition for students as they progress with their educational and life goals. This leader will be expected to create collaborative spaces within and between pathways. As the college continues to move to a one-college model focused on equity (from the campus-based model), this leader will be expected to support this culture shift in a way that is inclusive to all employee groups through a ground-up process where both broad and specialized best practices for all the pathway areas are defined and actualized. The successful candidate will have direct experience with and strong knowledge of best practices in designing and implementing initiatives to address equity and opportunity gaps and completion in the programs this administrative area serves and doing so in a collaborative way.

This position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating equitable student success in precollege, transfer, and supportive math and writing programs with faculty and managers aligned with retention and equitable student success metrics.   • Willingness to lead by example and to work collaboratively with others to promote a culture where prejudice, discrimination, and racism that impacts students and staff at the interpersonal, intergroup, and institutional levels are disrupted
  • Experience and understanding of working with all stakeholders (management, faculty, classified, external partners, etc.) to create feedback loops, showing how they engage in active listening and how decisions were impacted by feedback from stakeholders and whenever possible, allowing those most affected to democratically have a vote to decide the course of action
  • Experience building and leveraging a strategic network of community connections and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated facility with using quantitative and qualitative data for decision-making, planning, implementing and making continuous improvement for operations, programming, procedures, and services
  • Strong understanding of community college students and how the programs in this area can serve to develop equitable outcomes and a sense of belonging for students
  • Experience with innovative strategies to align systems and programs that shape the student experience toward shared, student-focused goals
  • Several years of classroom experience with an inclusive, student-centered approach
Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
  • Master’s Degree
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional experience related to the area of assignment, providing program/project management or program/project coordination
  • Four (4) years of higher education management/supervisory experience
Position Grade O Starting Salary Expectations Minimum $105,827 to range midpoint of $129,640. Placement will generally not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Position Grade Salary Range $105827 to $153451 Annual Salary FTE 1 PCC Benefits





PCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. PCC currently fully funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. After one year of management or confidential service, PCC also provides a 2% contribution to a 403(b) account for eligible management and confidential personnel. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work environment includes frequent disruptions and changes in priorities. Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required. Frequent travel to other locations is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily. Background Check Required Yes
