POSITION SUMMARY: The Chemistry Department invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position beginning in Fall 2022; a PhD in organic chemistry or a related area of chemistry is required. Teaching responsibilities are three courses each semester, typically from classes and labs in organic chemistry: Organic I, Organic II, and special topics in organic chemistry depending on interest and experience. Candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to the Senior Seminar for majors or the liberal arts curriculum of the institution including General Education, writing and travel abroad. The department encourages active learning and inclusive pedagogy in our classroom and laboratory course work. Moravian University grants BS and ACS-certified degrees in Chemistry and is a member of the New American Colleges and Universities with a commitment to the liberal arts and student-focused pedagogy. Peer-reviewed publishable research that engages undergraduate students is expected. Undergraduate research at Moravian is supported by a dedicated 1.5 million dollar endowment.  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 3:3 teaching load, with reassigned time as appropriate for administrative work
  • Sustain an active program of scholarly research in the area(s) of your expertise
  • Mentor undergraduate student research through independent study, Honor Theses, and Student Opportunities for Academic Research (SOAR) Projects;
  • Produce peer-reviewed publications
  • Participate in professional organizations and societies
  • Contribute to the University's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community.
  • Actively participate in service to the University through academic advising, committee membership, and/or mentorship of student clubs and organizations.

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related area of chemistry
