Admissions/New Student Services invites applications for two Admissions Rep I's to join their team. This position will counsel prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the University of Montana. This position is responsible for providing one-on-one and group admissions counseling to diverse populations. The Admissions Rep I represents the University both on- and off-campus to a prospective student, parents, secondary school counselors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. This position is generally 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, but may require some evenings and weekends on occasion.

Key duties of this position include:
  • Use data to plan and implement recruitment activities for assigned high schools and territories.
  • Serve as a liaison between prospective students and academic departments, colleges and schools, admissions evaluations and others.
  • Plan recruitment initiatives within the parameters of defined budget, and report budget updates to Director of Admissions.
  • Make commitments on behalf of the university.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the success of various programs, committees, initiatives and activities that impact recruitment at the University of Montana.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on enrollment marketing materials and strategies
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
Following a reasonable training period, the incumbent should have a working knowledge of the academic programs and services offered at the University of Montana, as well as a demonstrated knowledge of Banner.

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with prospective students and their families.
  • Ability to talk knowledgably about UM and answer questions about academic programs, financial aid, student life, etc.
  • Ability to make presentations and represent the University of Montana in a professional manner in multiple cultural settings.
  • Ability to coordinate/schedule large and small events.
  • Ability to multi-task and lead a project to completion.
  • Planning, problem-solving, adaptability, decision-making skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability/willing to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Possess or be able to obtain a valid Montana’s Driver’s License.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field as well as at least (2) two years of directly related, relevant work experience; OR any combination of experience and education that would provide the competencies required to successfully discharge the essential duties assigned to this position.

Department: Enrollment Services

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year. May require some evenings & weekends.

Salary: $17.1/hrCurrent employee’s rate of pay for this position will be determined by the staff compensation plan and will minimally be this posted salary. For questions and details regarding the staff compensation plan, email the Compensation Department .

Union Affiliation: FOCUS-MFPE

Probationary Period: Six months minimum
