Position Summary:
The Social Media Manger will be responsible for designing and implementing the social media strategy for the University of Idaho, will work under the supervision of the Storytelling Machine Manager create and cultivate content that meets the goals and specifications aligning with UCM's brand strategy. The Social Media Manager will advance the university's reputation through purposeful and creative social media messaging and delivery using a variety of channels. The Social Media Manager is responsible for developing brand awareness, generating, and tracking inbound traffic and encouraging engagement through the university's social platforms. This role aligns with UCM's marketing and communications teams to ensure brand message consistency to cultivate communities meeting established KPIs. This position will be recognized as the subject matter and theory expert who applies and puts into practice an in-depth understanding of the social landscape. The position works independently to perform the full range of responsibilities within the function.

The U of I Social Media Manager will need to be adept at understanding how social media fits into an integrated marketing and communications plan and create the content publishing and distribution calendar ensuring the content plan aligns with the U of I brand strategy. This position will be an advocate for the University of Idaho in social media spaces, actively monitoring and engaging in dialogues appropriately with key audiences, working with campus partners to answer questions in a timely manner, be a problem solver with ‘can-do' attitude approaching every opportunity with the mindset to tell our story in real-time to drive engagement.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or Journalism.



  • 5 years of experience in social media content creation/management.
  • 4 years experience with data analytics.
  • Experience using social media platforms to execute marketing and social media strategy as demonstrated in a portfolio submitted at application.





Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with client relations.
  • Experience with social media publishing tools.
  • Experience with project management tools.
  • Ability to be flexible with assignments and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to learn new skills as the opportunities or the need arise.
