Occupational Safety Technician
Location: Moscow

Pay Range: $23.21 per hour or higher depending on experience and education
Full/Part Time: Full Time
Position Summary:
This position will assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive occupational safety program; act as the university's Automatic External Defibrillator program coordinator and perform related administrative and training responsibilities; perform facility inspections and related tasks; and act as the primary contact, provider and/or coordinator for providing occupational safety services to off-campus facilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Assessing workspaces for safety hazards and implementing effective intervention strategies
- Developing and implementing safety programs
- Developing and presenting safety training
- Working with computer software and hardware
Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
- B.S. in industrial safety, occupational safety or related fields
- Formal training in ergonomic principles
Experience:
- Interpreting and applying laws, regulations and standards
- Presenting first-aid/CPR/AED training classes
- Performing ergonomic evaluations and assisting in the identification and implementation of appropriate intervention strategies
- Operating technical equipment such as air monitors, noise and light dosimeters, lead detectors and similar instruments used to detect potential environmental hazards
- Working in a university environment
Knowledge of:
- Current methods and equipment used in work environments and related safety practices
- First-aid/CPR/AED practices, training requirements, methods, techniques and equipment
- Safety training methods and techniques
- Accident investigation techniques
- Some knowledge of hazardous materials and their safe handling
- Agricultural operations
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Ability to:
- Climb stairs and ladders
- Walk and remain on feet for extended periods of time
- Drive a vehicle for long distances
- Wear personal protective and respiratory equipment necessary to safely perform job duties
- Enter and exit small and/or confined spaces
- Perform repetitive computer tasks for extended periods of time on a consistent basis
- Carry or lift heavy materials
- Communicate effectively
