Job Description: The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies invites applications for a tenure-track position that begins in Fall 2022 at the rank of assistant professor in the field of “Religion and Politics” or “Religion and the Environment.” Area of specialization, religious tradition, theoretical and methodological approach, historical period, cultural framework, and geographical locus are open. The successful candidate will have an active record of research and publication, a dedication to undergraduate teaching and mentorship, a commitment to service for the department, college, and university, and a willingness to contribute to a vibrant and collaborative culture. Moreover, the successful candidate will teach two courses per semester (four courses per year)—one general education course entitled “Religions of the World” and one upper-level course in the candidate’s area of expertise that will complement other units in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

 

A Ph.D or equivalent degree with a relevant specialization is required for appointment to assistant professor. An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check. Review of applications will begin November 19, 2021 and continue until the position is filled.
