The Nursing Department invites applications for a nine-month appointment as an Assistant Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor in Nursing, depending on qualifications. The ideal candidate will have teaching and clinical experience in maternal-newborn and women’s health. This position will ensure the quality and effectiveness in preparing baccalaureate nurses with the skills needed to provide culturally congruent nursing care to women and the childbearing family.

The primary responsibilities of the person in this position will be teaching didactic and clinical courses in maternal-newborn and women’s health and may include the development and/or teaching of courses as needed by the Department. This person will also be responsible for scholarship commensurate with their appointment on a clinical or tenure-track. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the Department, advise students, serve on committees, and participate in the broader College community.

Teaching, Advising, Curriculum and Instructional Development – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, curriculum and instructional development, grading student work and maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.

Scholarship, Creative, and Other Professional Activities – Faculty are expected to participate in expanding the knowledge base of their academic field by engaging in research or other creative activities as appropriate to the faculty member’s discipline. Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to scholarship may include but are not limited to research/creative activity that generates new knowledge and/or synthesizes and/or integrates existing knowledge into publication for research, scholarly, and creative activity.

Service – Faculty responsibilities include but are not limited to participation in Nursing Department meetings, a Department Standing Committee and Health & Human Services division meetings as well as engagement in professional organizations and community service.

Required Education
  •  Master’s in Nursing, Doctorate preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability, or potential for, and willingness to teach in an undergraduate nursing program.
  • Demonstrated ability, or potential for research, scholarly, and creative activities.
  • Demonstrated ability, or potential for active service contribution and leadership in the Nursing Department, the College, community and professional organizations.
  • The ability to work collegially with faculty, staff and students.
  • Commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population including first-generation college students.
  • Clinical specialization in maternal-newborn and women’s health

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional nursing certification in specialty area. For example, ANCC, NCC or CNC. Experience in simulation.
