Postdoctoral position and Research Associate position are available in the Matter-by-Design group of Prof. Zunger at the CU Boulder Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Successful candidates for either position will have a strong background in fundamental physics, electronic structure theory, and modern computational approaches to solids.
  • The positions will involve theoretical and computational identification of oxide and halide perovskites with target physical properties (“Inverse Design”) related to various functionalities.
  • Postdoctoral Associate is a title granted to persons holding a doctoral degree (or equivalent) and who will be engaged in a defined period of full-time mentored in preparation for transition into a career. The position is for up to 3 years based on mutual agreement, performance, and availability of continued funding.
  • Research Associate is a title granted to persons holding the doctor’s degree or its equivalent and whose academic qualifications may be comparable to the regular faculty ranks of Assistant Professor. It would be used for persons possessing the terminal degree who show demonstrated promise of research contributions. The position is for up to 3 years based on mutual agreement, performance, and availability of continued funding.
What We Can Offer
  • The Research Associate position is for up to 3 years based on mutual agreement, performance, and availability of continued funding. The salary range is $60,000 - $80,000 depending on experience and qualifications and the position is available April 2022.
  • The Postdoctoral Association position is for up to 3 years based on mutual agreement, performance, and availability of continued funding. The salary range is $50,000 - $60,000 and the position is available immediately.

What We Require
  • Postdoctoral Associate and Research Associate should hold a doctoral degree and have the academic qualifications comparable to the regular faculty ranks of Assistant Professor.
What You Will Need

Outstanding candidates are sought with the following qualifications and requirements:
  • Proven record of significant research contributions in the modeling of materials.
  • Proficiency in scientific software development and high-performance computing.
  • Ph.D. in physics, materials science, or a related field.
  • High-level proficiency in communication skills.
