Position Summary

Position Information
Responsibilities: This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching undergraduate and honors students, scholarship, and service. Teaching assignments and service activities are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

Minimum Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications: The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Child Development or related areas such as Human Development, Family Studies, or Developmental Psychology. Candidates nearing completion of the terminal degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than August 17, 2022. The department seeks a faculty member competent in their field with expertise in development from infancy through emerging adulthood and demonstrated potential to oversee child development interns. Successful candidates should demonstrate the potential to teach at the college level and have research experience. The department seeks candidates with the ability to work with diverse students and colleagues, experience with inclusive pedagogy, and encourages BIPOC faculty to apply. Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching internships or practicum courses, have knowledge of career paths for child development interns, demonstrate significant professional experience with children and families, and have the ability to collaborate and communicate with community organizations. Preference will also be given to candidates who demonstrate exemplary teaching and research skills, have expertise with interactive learning management systems, and have a successful history of working as part of a team with demonstrated skills to interact, network and collaborate with colleagues, students, and professionals in the field. The Department: The Child Development Department ( www.csuchico.edu/chld ) is an independent department within the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences ( www.csuchico.edu/bss ). It serves approximately 275 majors and 265 minors offering curriculum from birth to young adulthood, families, and agencies that serve this population. The faculty member accepting this position would initially teach practicum, internship, and developmental courses. The department curriculum supports the mission of the University and the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences.
